Henry

My name is Henry and I was a witness of Lars’s cancer.on the 12th of august 2021 I had got shocking news lars had a horrible illness cancer. it was horrible I mean he told me he had stomach aches quite a lot but i didn't expect it would turn out this bad. thankfully I got to do zoom calls every once in a while.  i was horrified to hear it lars is one of my best friends.i  tried to stay positive but he's a great friend so i was worried. After about a month or two i got some more horrible news lars had to be airlifted  to auckland hospital i could not take it any longer i was very sad very worried and oh yeah  lars was now getting his large intestines removed i was very worried lars hadn't been sleeping for a week  it was terrible until in our last zoom meeting he said that he was coming back next year which made the summer holidays even better eventually my vacation ended by that time lars had came back and i was very happy unfortunately all my other friends were at fat badgers  but i couldn't come so was excited for  school when i got back. it was great to see lars in person he had tube in but that was fine because i had seen that some zoom calls so it was fine but now my nana has cancer so that's all gonna happen  all over again so yeah `

First of all when it all started he had just came back from a holiday and during the summer olympics and we were doing a slideshow on it. me and Lars where both working on it and for some reason lars had to take breaks every now and then he said he threw up on his holiday a lot but he still came to school and that really sent a shiver down my spine. Eventually he got diagnosed with burkitt lymphoma I was pretty shocked when I found out and sad because I had only two friends in my class and then I only have one friend in my class he. Was going through a lot of treatment like chemotherapy. But Lars’ birthday was close and he got and ipad for his birthday so I was able to play online game with him like roblox and minecraft. I remember the first time i got in touch with him he could hardly talk and we mostly played games on messenger kids he had lots of tubes in him and this big machine behind him and it gave him food and water.

Over time things were going well they had found that the chemotherapy was working very well and they did not have to try any other treatment. I was playing a lot with him on roblox and so was Sam one of my friends and over one month of playing games he had to go to get upgraded to Starship Hospital in Auckland to get better treatment and keep in mind that this was all happening during Covid-19 pandemic he wasn't in Auckland for long he was only there for 1 and a half week then he moved back to Christchurch then after one or two months he had to get a peace of his bowl taken out about 10cm of his bowl as well as the chemotherapy that he would always feel sick after. Apparanty the reason they had to take a peace of his bowl taken out was because it was twisted and aparanty that was a reflex of his body. Our class was doing a lot of get better soon cards and zoom calls.

After he got a piece of his bowl taken out he did not sleep for 1 week and he also had tummy aches but then after he was in a very good mood. But then the school did a bake sale to raise money for the Ronald McDonald house then it was just a matter of waiting so as the year ended Lars slowly got better though the school holidays and then just before the school holidays ended we had a meet up I was really excited i was going to meet Lars for the first time in 6 months! So, me and Sam met up at a restaurant an then Lars arrived I was so happy to see him but sadly Henry and Charlie weren't able to come. Lars still had one tube in him but that didn't matter then after school started he got his last tube out so he was officially cured! But he had to do have half days at school but on day he will do full days at school and grow his hair back. The End.

A couple months ago at school it was the school holidays. I was mostly doing normal stuff and soon we were at school again. My Friend lars wasn’t there for a whole week! He came back to school witch was good then a couple days later he wasn’t at school again.soon at night my mum saw a new message from lars’s mum saying lars and his family cept going to doctors to find out what was going on then the doctors finally found out what happened! It turned out lars had cancer! When I heard about it it was very rare and surprising.I was also quite scared and so was the rest of the family and also lars was going right over to christchurch!
There are six chemos if you have a lot of bad sells but if you have less you get four and this is for burkitt lymphoma until you feel better and chemo two is supposed to be the worst. The next chemo didn’t go that well so the rest of larses family came back to christchurch.Things started getting quite bad.Lars got something to get him to sleep so he doesn't  feel the pain.also a breathing device so he can still breathe properly and lots of tubes. After all of this was done the doctors couldn't do anything else. The only thing they could do was stand there. Meanwhile larses dad said the new and scary message and I got freaked out and sad and worried and started to cry. Luckily the where's fred book was almost finished now.soon it was too much so lars and his family went on a plane to auckland. When lars woke up he didn’t know where he was. That’s what lars said when he felt a little bit better and wasn’t asleep anymore the new hospital in auckland saved lars from chemo three. The thing that makes cells is called the immune system. But on chemo three there was no immune system. It cracked and got destroyed and don't worry it’ll go back but when the immune system went away and so all the germs have a huge army but the cells had no army. But lars got better when he went to the new hospital and we did lots of video chats and also got to messenger kids and played roblox games. Lars was getting better.
Only one more chemo until it’s finished! Me and my family did the milford then it got to next year and my new teacher said for me to sit with LARS! I saw lars on a table and it was amazing since I haven’t seen lars in such a long time. Also a couple days ago lars put a purple couloured dot on a statue of a giraffe and lars and his family came to our house for a party! And now I’m here writing this story with lars and my friends.

It was a normal weekend. I was chilling out, calling my friend to play Roblox. He told me the shocking news. Lars had cancer. I was very upset. My mum had already told me that he was really sick and he was off school for a pretty long time but I thought he just had a really, really, really bad cough. But on the bright side, I had a texting platform called Messenger Kids and so did Lars! Soon, when he got a bit better, I could play Roblox with him too! Lars, well... being Lars, has lots of friends! We were all the same age, liked the same stuff and got along with each other really well. His teacher let us Zoom call Lars and his mum in hospital.  We really enjoyed it. And I think Lars did too, being able to catch up with his friends. Then came the day when Lars got airlifted to Auckland. We knew that things were very serious and it was a scary time for all of us.
We were so pleased to get the news when he was getting better. The day I saw him when he came back, we went to Fat Badgers to get pizza.  It was one of the happiest moments of my life. It was so good to see him again and have him back in Queenstown.
